I know I joke about the Yahoo!/T(a/u)mblr deal, but I would like one thing to come out of this:
Flickr integration.
Flickr already offers great open source, automatically Creative Commons-ed protection (read: user copyright protections) with great backend support and simple UI. It is literally Yahoo!’s best service. Combing Flickr and Tumblr would be a huge boon to content creators and sharers and would do away with the extremely clunky photo interface Tumblr already has.
I don’t know what their deal entails more than Yahoo! trying to stay relavant and Tumblr not wanting to get bought out by another company that would gut it for their own services (read: every other tech company except maybe Oracle), but I really hope this end of service integration happens. Flickr is great and has the potential to make Tumblr a lot better.
Just a thought, and, really, the only one I have had since the deal was announced.
